FC Nantes 1982 - 83 Retro Football Shirt
Long-serving coach Jean Vincent delivered a third and final Ligue 1 triumph for Nantes this season with his stylish team sweeping aside all domestic opposition with ease. The Breton club boasted the meanest defense and the most prolific attack over the duration of the season and finished a comfortable 10 points clear of runners-up Bordeaux.
The star of the team was undoubtedly the Yugoslav forward Vahid Halilhodžic who scored 27 goals in 36 appearances to finish as the Ligue 1 top scorer in what was just his second season at La Beaujoire. French international midfielder José Touré contributed 13 goals from midfield and the club’s legendary wide men, Loïc Amisse and Bruno Baronchelli, were as influential in this championship success as they had been in the 1980 win. At the other end of the pitch, the ever-present and ever-reliable keeper Jean-Paul Bertrand Demanes kept opponents at bay, ably assisted by William Ayache, Patrice Rio, and the up-and-coming central defender Thierry Tusseau.
