Watching from the sidelines as their city rivals Ajax monopolised the European Cup during the early 1970s, two of Amsterdam's less-celebrated clubs decided to pool resources to create a new outfit capable of better challenging their illustrious neighbour. FC Amsterdam was born as a result of their 1972 merger. The early years of the new club were the most optimistic. With a team that included the national keeper Jan Jongbloed, fringe internationals Heini Otto and Chris Dekker and the reliable forward Gerard van der Lem, FC Amsterdam managed an impressive fifth placed Eredivisie finish in 1974, just their second season in existence. A memorable UEFA Cup campaign followed that included the defeat of mighty Internazionale, but fortunes were quick to fade. By 1976 the club was fighting relegation and by 1978 FC Amsterdam plunged out of the top flight altogether, never to return. Attendances collapsed and the club limped on for a further four seasons in the Eerste Divisie before disbanding in 1982.
This F.C. Amsterdam retro shirt has been added to our collection and is available in our webshop and in our Flagship Store in Amsterdam.

Since 5 years we are the proud sponsor of Soccer Rocker, a cult football festival with a combination of football, music and too much beer. The Soccer Rocker X COPA T-shirt as designed by Mike Ottink has been added to our collection and is available in our webshop and in our Flagship Store in Amsterdam.
It was a cold Sunday evening in January when Mike Ottink started designing a new Soccer Rocker shirt trying to mix the beautiful worlds of football and music that Soccer Rocker is known for. Little did he know, when choosing two of his heroes David Bowie and Johan Cruyff as inspiration for his design, that they would both pass away in the months following.
Soccer Rocker, Cruyff Classics and COPA have therefore joined forces and have developed a special T-shirt and all the proceeds of the sale of the shirt will be donated to the Cruyff Foundation. The T-shirt will be sold during the Soccer Rocker event on the 21st of May 2016.
In collaboration with RSC Anderlecht we have worked out two retro shirts, in beautiful purple and white. The first shirt is from the 1983 /1984 UEFA Cup campaign. After eliminating Lens, Spartak Moskou and Nottingham Forrest they made it to the final where Tottenham Hotspur proved to be too strong. The second shirt is from the 1977 / 1978 European Cup Winners Cup campaign. RSC Anderlecht subsequently beat Lokomotiv Sofia, Hamburger SV, FC Porto and FC Twente to reach the final. There they faced a strong FK Austria Wien side with striker Hans Pirkner. He was neutralized by defender Gilbert van Binst who, like Rob Rensenbrink, also scored twice. RSC Anderlecht won 4-0 and could lift their second European Cup Winners Cup in a row. Both shirts can be bought in the club fanstore and online shop.
In collaboration with Feyenoord we have added two new retro shirts to the Feyenoord 'Designed by...' COPA collection. It is the Home and Away shirt with the famous yellow shadow stripe that Feyenoord wore in the 1984 - 85 season. It was the first time that Feyenoord played with OPEL as a sponsor, who are their sponsor nowadays as well.
In this season Feyenoord qualified for the UEFA Cup. They did so with a team that consisted of players like Ruud Gullit and Johnny Rep completed with 'local' heroes Mario Been, Peter Houtman and Ben Wijnstekers. The retro shirts are packed in a special Feyenoord X COPA gift box and can be found exclusively at the three Feyenoord fanstores in Rotterdam. Online you can order in the Feyenoord webshop where you can see old Feyenoord hero and captain Ben Wijnstekers as the model!
