With five championships won over the course of the decade, Rapid Vienna dominated Austrian club football during the 1950s. This successful era reached its peak during the 1956-57 season. The brilliant midfielder Gerhard Hanappi was at the height of his considerable powers and the defence was strengthened by the return of another legendary Rapid player, Ernst Happel, back in the Austrian capital after two seasons playing in France.
This SK Rapid Wien retro shirt has been added to our collection and is available in our webshop.
For St. Johnstone the 1982-83 season was both exciting and successful as they narrowly edged out Hearts to take the Scottish Division One title, bringing a return to the top-flight for the first time since 1975 - 1976. The disciplined contributions of players like Don McVicar, Doug Barron and Drew Rutherford ensured Alex Rennie's squad had the best defensive record in the division, but there was plenty of goal threat in front of them too. This team featured two Saints' scoring record holders - John Brogan led the attack and became the club's all-time top scorer when he netted his 117th Saints goal during the title season. Another source of goals in that side was prolific goalscorer Jim Morton.
From 1934 until 1996, Amsterdam's most famous club played its home games in De Meer in the 'Betondorp' district. Johan Cruyff was born and raised just a few blocks away from the stadium. In 1996, the Dutch record champions entered a new home ground. The Amsterdam ArenA was, and still is, the largest stadium in Holland. To mark the 20th anniversary of the Amsterdam ArenA and honour the iconic ground De Meer, we have launched these two special T-shirts.
The De Meer-shirt and the Amsterdam ArenA-shirt have been added to our collection and are available in our webshop and in our Flagshipstore in Amsterdam.
