FC Porto 1985 - 86 Retro Voetbal Jack
Artur Jorge won the Portuguese title in his debut season in charge of FC Porto and the 1985-86 season was an opportunity for him to retain it. Ultimately, the club did achieve this target, but only after a close-run battle with both Benfica and Sporting Lisbon that carried on right to the climax of the season.
Benfica and Porto kicked off their final matches of the season level on points with the advantage to Porto, who, after winning their fixture against Sporting Covilhã, lifted the trophy. This was a Porto side that was developing into one of Portugal's greatest-ever club sides. There was a core of established players like Brazilian central defender Celso, right back João Pinto, striker Fernando Gomes, and talented winger Paulo Futre, and this group was joined by successful new signings like Brazilian forward Juary, Algerian winger Rabah Madjer, and the veteran Polish keeper Józef Mlynarczyk.
